Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program

The Australian Government's Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program offers free training in reading, writing, English language, maths and digital skills.

Would you like to get better at reading, writing, maths and digital skills? The SEE Program is here to help you - and it's free!

You can start at your own level, learn at your own pace, and choose training based on your needs and goals. You can learn in the classroom, in the workplace or remotely. 

AMES Australia offers full-time and part-time courses with ongoing entry at locations across Melbourne.

Through the SEE course, you can learn:

  1. Enhance English language skills in daily life context
    • Learn in a small class (approximately 20 students) with experienced English language teachers
    • Learn about Australian workplace communication, culture and practices
    • Receive English Language support
    • Improve your job search skills
    • Boost your confidence to find a job
  2. Workplace communication and employability skills
    • Learn industry related vocabulary
    • Learn how to fill out forms
    • Improve understanding of workplace culture
    • Improve your job search skills
    • Prepare for Employment - CV, applications, interviews with AI language app - MyAMES Chat
  3. Computer and digital literacy skills 
    At AMES Australia, you will learn in a classroom and online. A teacher will help you to learn skills in computer rooms and independently such as:
    • The basics of using a computer
    • Word Processing and Excel
    • Internet searching and skills to manage your online accounts
    • Creating your own documents and presentations
    • Using personal devices for Job searching skills including using Centrelink’s mobile app
  4. Work Placement
    • AMES Australia can arrange a work placement in a local business or industry to help you gain practical experience

Am I eligible?

You are eligible to SEE program if you are: 

  • an Australian citizen or
  • a permanent visa holder or
  • on a provisional or temporary visa with working rights and eligible for Adult Migrant English Program or
  • a Pacific Australian Labour Mobility visa holder

and be:

  • aged over 15 years and left school and
  • need help with your reading, writing, maths, English language and digital skills
