Find out the new designated regional area postcodes
The Department of Home Affairs recently released the new designated regional postcodes. The new definition has three classifications:
- Major cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane
- Cities and Major Regional Centres: Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Canberra, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Wollongong, Illawarra, Geelong, Hobart
- Regional centres and other regional areas: all other locations
With the exception of Major cities, the regional classifications will have access to the following:
- Regional occupation lists
- Priority processing on regional visas
- Access regional points for study purposes as well as state and territory nomination and family nomination.
- Additional period on post-study visas for international students (International students who study in Cities and Major Regional Centres will be eligible to access an additional year on their post-study visa and international students who study at other regional areas will be eligible to access additional two years on their post-study visa).
