Eligibility for HSP
Newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants holding an eligible visa are referred directly to AMES Australia by the Department of Home Affairs. Eligible visas include:
- Refugee category (subclass 200, 101, 203 and 204) visas; and
- Global Special Humanitarian (subclass 202) visa.
Specialised and Intensive Services
The Humanitarian Settlement Program also provides Specialised and Intensive Services (SIS) to eligible visa holders facing complex settlement challenges. SIS is short term tailored needs-based support, to help eligible refugees and humanitarian entrants access appropriate mainstream services and develop the necessary skills to manage their needs independently.
(SIS) under the Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) provide tailored support to humanitarian entrants and eligible visa holders facing complex settlement challenges. Eligibility extends to individuals holding Refugee visas:
- Refugee visas(Subclass 200, 201, 203, 204),
- Global Special Humanitarian visa (Subclass 202)
- Protection visa (Subclass 866)
- Temporary Protection visa (Subclass 785),
- Temporary Humanitarian Stay visa (Subclass 449)
- Temporary Humanitarian Concern visa (Subclass 786)
- Safe Haven Enterprise visa (Subclass 790)
Holders of these visas may be eligible for SIS for approximately five years after their arrival in Australia or five years after the grant of their onshore visa
